The Privileged Life: Waterfalls

IMG_7734

“I will open rivers in desolate heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys;I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.” Isaiah 41:18

Not far away from where we live is the Dupont State Forest in North Carolina. It encompasses a bounty of lush cascading waterfalls along the Little River—Hooker Falls, Triple Falls, and High Falls—whose claim to fame is that they were chosen for filming part of “The Hunger Games.”

This time of year is particularly scenic. The Brevard area and Transylvania County boast more than 250 waterfalls, and recent rains have turned all of them into gushing fountains. On blistering hot days in the summertime, you can kick off your shoes for wading or don a swimsuit for a slippery dip into pools of Coke-ad-worthy refreshment.

But for now, the view is enough. Thanks to the foresight of preservationists before us, these treasures are a privilege for all of us to enjoy, unspoiled by commercialism or pollution. If you live anywhere near North Carolina, check these out! So beautiful!

Thank You, Lord, for letting us see the beauty of Your creation in its pristine glory. Thank You for those who came before us, to keep this unspoiled and available for everyone to see. Thank You for Your marvelous work! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
