We have a schizophrenic tree in our front yard…part of it blooms randomly throughout the year. (This photo is actually from late last fall.) But when spring rolls around, it explodes all over in beautiful pink blossoms, welcoming the return of warm weather.
Seeing the fragile appearance of jonquils, crocuses, and (soon, we hope) forsythia gives me just a bit of hope that spring isn’t far off. True, we haven’t hit the vernal equinox yet, but we’re close. We still might have a last-breath blast at winter’s departure, but these fleeting flowers show us that there is something beyond the bleakness, just waiting to bless us. Signs and wonders indeed.
As spring slowly winds its way northward, look for the signs that God is turning the northern hemisphere of His beautiful planet sunward…just as He is slowly turning our faces Sonward toward the life and light of Jesus Christ. Rejoice…He is coming again, just as surely as spring will be here soon!
Thank You, O Heavenly God, for bringing spring back into our lives, for turning our hearts toward You, for making all things new. We praise You for the signs of spring, knowing that the signs of the return of Your Son, Jesus, are not far off either. In His name we pray, Amen.
