“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.’”Psalm 91:1-2
As the breeze whistles around the eaves of our home, I’m reminded that we have a secure roof over our heads at the moment. No leaks, no shakiness…keeping us warm and dry on this chilly day.
I’m thinking of those who lost not only their roofs but entire homes and the lives of family members in Lee County, Alabama, over the weekend in the horrific tornadoes. Nothing can replace the staggering loss and grief some of these families have suffered. May God grant an extra measure of His Holy Spirit’s comfort to those who were affected there. May He give the right words and assistance from those (like volunteers with Samaritan’s Purse) who are arriving to help these families recover.
Be thankful today if you have a roof of some kind over your head and aren’t homeless or tornado-stricken. And lift up prayers for those who lost their homes and loved ones on Sunday.
God, we don’t understand why You allow such awful destruction from the forces of Your creation, even though we know this is a fallen world. We turn our eyes toward You in prayer now for those who have suffered so much devastation right now…comfort and guide them through this valley of the shadow of death. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
